Monsoon has finally advanced after a three-day hiatus and its branch towards the Arabian Sea has covered new areas.

The Meteorological Department has said that the monsoon has advanced after Kerala and has now reached the neighboring states, besides, favorable conditions are being created for the monsoon to advance.

This year monsoon reached Kerala on May 30, a day earlier than its scheduled date of June 1.  When the monsoon reaches Kerala, it is considered the beginning of the monsoon in the country.

June 15 is the fixed date of monsoon in Gujarat and before that the state is experiencing heat.  Also, strong winds are blowing in some areas.

Monsoon has reached which areas and which states will it reach now?

As per the current situation, the monsoon is progressing ahead of schedule and both the Arabian Sea branch and the Bay of Bengal branch are advancing rapidly.

The Met department says the monsoon has advanced on June 2 and reached three new states simultaneously.  The advanced monsoon has covered all parts of Kerala, all parts of Tamil Nadu, some parts of Andhra Pradesh including Rayalaseema and parts of Karnataka.

Besides, the Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea areas are currently covered with dense clouds and favorable conditions for rapid advance of monsoon.

The Meteorological Department says that the monsoon is likely to advance over the remaining parts of Karnataka, coastal Andhra Pradesh and the remaining parts of the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal in a day or two.

Monsoon, which started on May 30, stalled for three days towards the Arabian Sea and has since advanced.  While the branch towards the Bay of Bengal made rapid progress.

After Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, the monsoon will enter Goa and Maharashtra areas and then reach Mumbai, which usually takes around 10 June.

Will the weather change in Gujarat?

The Meteorological Department in Gujarat has predicted strong winds for the next 5 days, which means that most parts of the state will witness higher than normal wind speeds.

Wind speed is likely to be higher in Kutch, Saurashtra and North Gujarat than other parts of the state.  However, wind speed is likely to be less than 40 kmph barring few areas.

Winds are coming from the Arabian Sea in Gujarat and heat is falling on the other side.  Winds from the sea bring moisture so that coastal areas experience gusts.

Weather in Gujarat is likely to turn around around June 7-8, given the fast progressing monsoon, rains are likely to start in the state before June 10.

As per the current situation and if there is no change in the factors affecting the monsoon, it seems that the monsoon will start in the state as per its scheduled time.

At present, except for Gujarat and Rajasthan, rain is forecast in most of the states of the country, somewhere light and somewhere moderate to heavy rain has been predicted.

The Meteorological Department has not predicted any rain in Gujarat till June 6, but due to heat and humid winds, there is a possibility of scattered light rain in some parts of the state in the next two to three days.

Apart from this, a cyclonic circulation has formed over Saurashtra and the adjoining Arabian Sea, this system is unlikely to have much impact on Gujarat.  However, due to this, there is a possibility of clouds coming in the areas of Saurashtra and South Gujarat.

Another system has formed over the Arabian Sea, a cyclonic circulation has formed over the West-Central Arabian Sea, according to the Meteorological Department.  However, due to this, there is no chance of rain in the state at present.
