New Delhi: The South-West Monsoon (Monsoon 2024) which has arrived prematurely in Kerala is advancing at full speed. Conditions are favorable for monsoon to advance in many states including Maharashtra and Karnataka. While the weather in Delhi is also expected to be pleasant. Light rain is likely this week. However, some parts of several states including Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat will still remain hot.
How far has the monsoon reached?
According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), Monsoon has already entered Sikkim, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka. Apart from this, monsoon has also arrived in some parts of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra.
May reach Mumbai between 9th and 10th June
Monsoon has entered Maharashtra via Sindhudurg district in South Konkan and Sangli and Kolhapur in West Maharashtra and may reach Mumbai between June 9 and 10. The special thing is that monsoon is very important in Maharashtra due to water crisis, apart from summer.
Will reach Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat by June 15
The people of Himachal Pradesh are likely to get relief from the heat soon. Monsoon rains may arrive in the hill state by June 20. At the same time, it is being said that Monsoon will reach Uttarakhand around June 25. Monsoon is likely to reach parts of Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat by June 15. Also during this period monsoon can reach Chhattisgarh, Odisha and Jharkhand.
How is the monsoon progressing?
According to an agency briefing, the Southwest Monsoon will cover most parts of Karnataka, some parts of Maharashtra, Telangana and coastal Andhra Pradesh, most parts of West Central Bay of Bengal and some more parts of Northwest Bay of Bengal and some more parts of Central Arabian Sea.
According to the Meteorological Department, the weather is favorable for the advance of Southwest Monsoon over some more parts of Central Arabian Sea, rest of Karnataka and Coastal Andhra Pradesh, some more parts of Maharashtra (including Mumbai), Telangana, South Chhattisgarh and some parts of South Odisha.
